Character Quiz

Tue Sep 29, 2009, 4:04 PM
  • Mood: Tired
So I’ve been meaning to do this quiz for a while, but never really got around to it. And I figured that now, while waiting for things to happen at work would be a good time.

How it works:
Pick a number of your characters and answer the following questions about them
1- How did you come up with their name?
2- Why did you create them?
3- What changes have they gone through?
4- What are some random facts about them?

Because of the vast number of characters of mine (A problem for a lot of the people who take this quiz), I will be doing this in parts. Each part will be a set of characters from the same place. So let’s get going.

Part 1:

Parsival: [link]

1- When I created him, I was really into a computer game series called Gabriel Knight. In the second game, there are two wolves that go missing (plot point). The male is called Parsival. I took the name from there.

2- I created him back when I first started drawing. He was just an easy character for me to draw. And I love wolves.

3- He actually started out as a human with a tail. I had a couple high-lighters one day, and I used them to create a man with very long blue hair. The original is lost to history now, but I decided to draw him again as a wolf.

4- As far as anybody knows, Parsival never smiles. Nobody can ever remember seeing him smile. Some say he is incapable of smiling.

Trever: [link]

1- After I drew him, I asked ~Honda-kun, who was sitting next to me at the time, to name him. She said to name him Trevor. I was planning on it, but I spelled it wrong when I wrote it out in that other script I use. And I didn’t realize my error until after I had inked it all in. So now his name is Trever with an ‘E’ instead of an ‘O.’

2- I was just getting into drawing when I made him and I wanted a skunk character.

3- The most notable change is specifically when he lost his hand. At first, he lost it after his training. Now he lost it at the beginning. This is important because of how I’m making magic work in his world.

4- He lost his hand and can make a replacement with the magical energy in his body. He acts like losing his hand doesn’t bother him. But there are subtle giveaways that say otherwise. One of them is that he will never willingly show someone how the energy hand attaches to his wrist.

Truth: [link]

1- I just liked the name Truth

2- At the time, I never really saw many horse anthros. I still don’t. I wanted to give it a shot. Plus I needed a rival for Parsival.

3- Truth hasn’t really changed much, since I don’t really work with him much.

4- He and Parsival are arch-rivals to the point where they literally try to kill each other. But neither of them takes it personally. They both realize that it is all just part of their jobs. This makes for good working conditions. They can be trying to rip each others’ throat out on Tuesday. Work side by side in perfect harmony on Wednesday. Be back to killing each other on Thursday. And not even register each others’ existence if they past each other on the street on Friday. They respect each other and secretly keep score. But they don’t let it interfere with their work.

Elijah: [link]

1- I wanted an older sounding name that is still known today. Elijah seemed to fit.

2- I wanted a bat character. One who was blind.

3- His back story is in constant shift. I still haven’t smoothed all the facts out.

4- He’s blind, but it has nothing to do with him being a bat. I know bats aren’t blind. He is also very powerful. How he got so powerful and how he lost his eyes are part of the shifting backstory.

Keith: [link]

1- I knew a Keith in High School and liked the name. The character has nothing else in common with the Keith I knew.

2- I wanted a Fox character (Pattern anyone?).

3- Nothing really changed. I just added stuff.

4- He’s left handed, an aspect of him that I consciously made when I drew him.

Fetch Yorik and Cheshire Touchstone: [link]

1- Their last names are both jesters from Shakespeare plays. I forget where Touchstone is from. Yorik is from Hamlet. “Alas, poor Yorik,” and all that Jazz. Cheshire I took directly from Alice in Wonderland. At the time, I really wanted to use the name Fetch, so I gave it to him. (Fetch is always on the left. Cheshire is always on the right)

2- They were originally just supposed to be jokers in a special deck of cards. The personalities just sort of fell into place afterwards.

3- They haven’t really changed. They just became more than I had anticipated.

4- They are aware of the real world. They know I exist and refer to me as “him” or “he.”

That will conclude this set. I will have more later. If there is a set any of you would like to see first, I’ll take it under consideration.

What I think, I create.
What I create, I draw.
What I draw, I love.
What I love, is everything to me.

I prefer creativity, originality, dynamics and sassiness over cut and paste and paintfill and trace.

I learn from honest critique. Do you?
:icongen-kavik:
No problem. Great work.

The IT:

The last man on earth came home one night. He turned the lights off, got into bed, then remembered he had left the tv on.

He reached for a match, and a match was put into his hand.
:icongen-kavik:
No problem. And Happy happy to you, too.

Knowing what you're doing doesn't mean you won't make mistakes. It means that when you do, you know how to fix it.

If you must fuck up, do it when you're the only victim.

~Try as much as possible to be wholly alive, with all your might, and when you laugh, laugh like hell, and when you get angry, get good and angry. Try to be alive. You will be dead soon enough.
